C4 is now the official home of Leinster Rugby! Just ask these characters we featured over the last week and see the passion of Provincial Rugby outside the Pale. We ventured into the heartland of Carlow rugby to see for ourselves the massive support that Leinster Rugby has generated outside city limits. Featured in this piece are the following:
- PJ Thomkins, neighbour of Jackman and die hard Leinster fan whose views on D4 ladies will be forever etched in my memory!!!
- Lar Canavan, groundsman and coach of Tullow Rugby Club who also coached Sean O’Brien at underage level. We have on good authority that much of O’Briens early development is thanks to this man.
- PJ Haskins, chairman of Tullow Rugby Club and driving force behind their continued development up the ranks.
- Brendan Hennessy, needs no introduction! The man who was voted Sexiest Broadcaster in Leinster and is renowned as the most charismatic commentator in the history of Setanta Sports.
- Sean ‘The Real Cass’ O’Brien, father of current Leinster and Ireland player Sean O’Brien. One of life’s great characters and a true gentlemen. Purported to get his name from Cassius Clay given his lightening quick hand speed! Or was it Casanova ….?
Myself and Bren had the time of our lives over the weekend. Our thanks go to everyone down in Tullow Rugby Club for the massive welcome we received and all the brilliant characters who volunteered to talk to us.
