Following it’s phenomenal success in 2007, The Bulmers International Comedy Festival returns to Dublin - bigger and better than ever before. Now in it's fifth year The Bulmers International Comedy Festival has become one of the top five comedy festivals in the world. It has played host to the cream of international and Irish talent including Ricky Gervais, Denis Leary, Little Britain, Dylan Moran, Lee Evans and Bill Bailey to name but a few.
This year’s festival will take place in various venues across Dublin for three weeks from September 1st. The Bulmers International Comedy Festival is especially proud to announce that the world’s most popular stand-up, Chris Rock, will be making his debut Irish performance as part of the event.
Also confirmed are the vocal talents of Police Academy’s Michael Winslow; Rich Hall as Otis Lee Crenshaw; BBC TV’s The Mighty Boosh; the hugely popular Jimmy Carr; rising comedy star Stephen Lynch; from TV’s Phoenix Nights Paddy Mc Guinness; and from TV’s The Royale Family Ricky Tomlinson.
The Bulmers Fringe will feature the talents of Brendon Burns, Dead Cat Bounce and Jimeoin On Ice in The Sugar Club. The festival will see the return of The Orchard Path Comedy Trail taking place in various pubs around town and also a search for new talent competition Nothing Butt Funny.
Over the course of the coming weeks further acts will be added to the bill so keep your eye out for new arrivals!
“Bulmers is delighted to be sponsoring the Bulmers International Comedy Festival, a world-class festival which for the past four years has brought the crème de la crème of comedy to Ireland from all around the world. A first for the comedy festival and a first for Ireland, we are really excited with Chris Rock – one of the greatest comedians of all time performing in this year’s festival.“ Orlaith Fortune, Marketing Manager, Bulmers.
Festival Director Noel Mc Hale said: “We have been very lucky to secure American superstars Chris Rock, Michael Winslow and Stephen Lynch for this year’s festival as well as the hottest UK comedy show at the moment The Mighty Boosh. As always it’s not only in the big venues that you get the hot shows, make sure you check out the comedy trail for the best upcoming international and local talent. Dead Cat Bounce in the Sugar Club is a must see show and watch out for our end of festival Parade and Party. We also owe Bulmers a big thank you for their continued support, the Festival would not happen without them.”
