The Bulmers International Comedy Festival 2008 was bigger and better than ever before with over 50 comedy artists taking to the stage in over 16 venues across Dublin. Now in it's fifth year The Bulmers International Comedy Festival has become one of the top five comedy festivals in the world. This year's festival ran from 1st -21st September and boasted a wealth of high calibre international acts including the world's most popular stand-up Chris Rock, who made his Irish debut performance at Dublin's Olympia theatre.
Dublin also played host to the impressive vocal talents of Police Academy's Michael Winslow; Rich Hall as Otis Lee Crenshaw; BBC TV's The Mighty Boosh; the hugely popular Jimmy Carr; rising comedy star Stephen Lynch; from TV's Phoenix Nights Paddy Mc Guinness; and from TV's The Royle Family Ricky Tomlinson.
The Bulmers Fringe featured the talents of Brendon Burns, Dead Cat Bounce and Jimeoin On Ice in The Sugar Club. This year's festival saw the return of The Orchard Path Comedy Trail taking place in various pubs around town. The search for new talent competition ,Nothing Butt Funny was a huge success this year. Gearoid Farrelly fought off stiff competition to emerge as this year's winner. As part of his prize Gearoid got the opportunity to support Rich Hall at The Olympia during the festival.
